It was on the south-western coast of island Muhu, near cape Pikasääre.

On the way there I saw cops measuring speed just before Liiva village. But I
noticed them early and slowed down, so they didn't touch me. A little after
turning right at Liiva I saw two roes crossing the road, with some nice white
asses.

It was possible to drive to 3,5km from the point. It was impossible to continue
even with snow chains. The snow on the road was too deep. There were only some
tracks of tractors and ATV in it. So I parked and took a stroll. There was an
ant nest beside the road and someone's lost and found boot hanging on a tree.
After a kilometer the tracks turned away from the road. I followed the road,
not the tracks. The snow was quite deep, reaching occasionally up to knee.

Finally I reached to the shore of strait Väike that separates islands Muhu and
Saaremaa. It was 1,6km to the point and I continued on ice. There was lot of
water on it and several openings, but it still it was much faster and easier to
walk there then in snow. It was very windy and there were quite many birds
flying around. 1km from the destination there was a nice cottage on the shore.
The point was on dry land, about 100m from coastline.

On the way back I decided not to go to the snowy road again and took a frozen
swamp instead. It was a good choice and took me easily almost to my car. The
cops on the road had changed their position. Now they were in Reina village on
Saaremaa. This time I didn't notice them early enough, because the sun was
against me. Probably they had had a boring day with no speed maniacs to mess
with, because they stopped me, although I had only 13 over (as they said). They
made me blow, but of course I was sober. Fortunately they decided not to fee
me.

EXTREME-EXTREME...

It was in the middle of Baltic Sea!!! This is not a joke!!

So I parked my car in Rahuste village and started walking over pastures. There
was open landscape, but it was quite foggy, which comfortably covered my
suspicious activity. After few hundred meters I met a sign saying "Rahuste
nature reserve". Soon I reached to the sea and continued on ice, until... the
ice ended and there was open sea ahead!! Distance to the dashpoint was still
about a kilometer, so I was standing there and thinking what to do. As the
water was only 20cm deep, I decided to step in. After few steps I felt that my
right foot is getting wet, and discovered that my right rubber boot is broken.
A bad surprise, but whatever, I decided to ignore it and go on. After several
meters there came a point where the sea was about to come over the edge of the
boots. I was about to turn around, but... "If my right foot is wet, why can't
my both feet be wet??" flashed a thought in my head. And on I went.

So I stepped few hundred meters through the cold sea, which in the deepest
point reached up to knee. After some time I reached to the shore-ice of islet
Ooslalaid. I emptied my boots of salty water, wrested dry the socks and walked
over the islet toward the destination. There was a fire-place on the islet and
an old rusty fridge with a beer bottle inside!!! And some other garbage... it's
supposed to be a nature reserve, but...

The closest place to the dashpoint on "dry land" was 95m away. Actually it was
just ice on and between some big stones there, waves glimpsing it hungrily. I
decided not to make it to zero, because it would have meant an additional cold
sea-walk. On the way back through the sea I managed to deviate from the right
way and step in to a place, where water was up to my balls.

From that day there ain't cold water for me in this world and I need some
liquid nitrogen if I want to cool down myself;)

A cold beer, anyone?

From that stone it was 95m.

It was in the Kaugatoma-Lõu landscape protection reserve. Because of the small
roads were under deep snow, the closest point where I could reach by car, was
at distance 1,2km. It happened to be on the coast next to a cute little light
house. I parked and stepped over a low fence onto a half-frozen swamp. Soon it
turned to a stony alvar. 300m from the dashpoint there was a frozen lake. The
ice was wet and made some weird bubbling sounds under my weight, but didn't
crack. Last 200m were a bit nasty. There was about 20cm water on the surface
under forest, which was covered with thin ice, which in turn had 10cm snow on
it. The ice broke every now and then, but most of the time it was still
possible to walk on it.

This was the most extreme dashpoint I've ever visited. It was in a real ass of
the hell, or actually on a small peninsula called "Võilaid" or "Butter islet"
in translation. It used to be a real islet in the past, but because the land is
continuously rising here, it now has a narrow (and awfully bad and swampy)
connection to island Muhu. Walking there was really like in butter, only deep
snow instead of it, occasionally with some water and unfrozen mud under it. It
took me 9 hours total to get there and back. First my car got stuck around
there 4 times. Finally I reached to 2,7km from target and took a 5 hour walk in
50cm deep snow. Average speed was 1km/h. See my detailed report below.

11:00 Left home
11:50 Cups measuring speed on the road. I had only 15km/h over, so they didn't
touch me.
12:00 Arrived to target area, got stuck 1st time on the border of Võiküla
(Butter village in translation), started digging out. The road there was really
like butter, only snow instead of it;)
12:30 Got the car moving, managed to reverse 100m and got stuck 2nd time by the
power lines entry point to Muhu island.
13:00 A tractor came to clean up the road and pulled me out. A local guy told
me that it would be better to approach to the islet from Rässa (another village
nearby). So I started driving there, but managed to find a trap and get stuck
3rd on the same road, which was now "cleaned".
13:30 Got the car moving again by driving it patiently inch by inch back and
forward. Arrived to Rässa and got stuck 4th time, because I chose wrong way.
Actually it was the right way, but for some reason they had given up using it
during this winter and pushed a temporary road straight over the frozen field.
14:00 Got the car moving after driving back and forward with 5m amplitude for
half an hour. Reached to 2,7km from target. Driving further was impossible. The
roads around there looked like some sledging trenches on Olympics. 3m wide and
high snow berms on both sides. Started walking.
15:43 Sunset on the shore of frozen sea
17:00 Reached to target in total darkness. Didn't see much, but it seemed like
a totally swampy area under the snow with a lot of reed growing around. Lights
of Virtsu harbor on the continent 8km away were visible over sea. As I later
looked from some aerophotos, the point was actually in a small lake. Covered
with ice of course. Started walking back. It was quite hard to follow my
tracks, because it was dark now and I didn't have a flashlight
19:00 Back in car, started driving home
20:00 Back home

Next time when I go to such place in winter, I buy myself snowshoes. Then I can
walk on the snow, not step through it. And I'll tie my pants to my ankles. Then
snow can't push them up and get in my boots. I poured half glass of water out
of my left boot at home. And I was wandering, why my toes were freezing. Still
5 hours in snow like that...

I must say that the most exciting part of my journey was the first half hour
when I was digging my car out of snow in front of my house. The point itself
was a drive-in. So I stopped the car at 25m distance and took few steps in
snow. There was a clearance in woods in this place with some young spruces.

Approaching through the falling snow, I met a sign saying "Private property" at
2,5km from the point. As there was no-one around and not even any tracks on the
snowy road, I decided to just simply ignore it and drive on. It was possible to
drive to distance 1,1km. From there I took a walk through forest and over
clearances. On the way there was a lake, but it was frozen, so I just stepped
over it. The point was actually in sea, 88m from shore. But the sea was covered
with ice, so I went and made it to zero, although there was snowstorm out there
and near the shore there was 10cm deep mix of snow and water on the ice.
Actually I was lucky to get there, because the sea had frozen just about a week
ago.

That was an easy one. It was possible to drive to 175 meters. From there a nice
walk over a clearance and through sparse pine forest took me to the point.
